Creative Zen 32 GB Portable Media Player (Black) Customer Review

I'll keep this short and sweet as possible, this being my 4th Creative Zen buy! *Plus also bought a Muvo 2GB for 1 of my sons!*

Battery life,, compared to the I-Pod Touch I own, the Zen has great battery life and if run nearly dead will charge fairly quick, the buttons & menu take a while to figure out & master, but do work well. The Volume choice & Menu selection keys are easy to learn and maneuver, about the same curve learning wise as the I-Pod.
The newer utility to convert Flash & other files to watch is quick & effective. A basic no brainer for the most part, a little time putzing around with it helps with learning menus and basic navigation & controls and care of it too.

So far the 3 year old 4GB Zen has the same battery level & available hrs & use as the newest one! A sure sign of effective use & recharging fully of the battery after enjoying my media! Haven't had any glitches media wise nor battery wise, screen is still clear with minimal scratches, I didn't think of protectors until after my I-Pod purchase! Honestly media transfer is easier on the Creative units, compared to the I-Pod! Figured it would be the opposite but was wrong, (odd isn't it?). Overall the creative units have served me & my kids quite well, am really thinking of buying a 32GB or 64GB X-Fi model sometime soon as well. Honestly thought the I-Pod would out-shine the Creative but it didn't, it's not as easy to navigate nor charge and loading media via I-Tunes sucks!! Plus it really eats power just listening to MP3's or AAC's or whatever.....Video's always eat more power but the I-Pod needed recharging sooner, almost every time I used it! Oh well, Double the cost & it isn't as useful, or as energy efficient at least for me anyway!

My only beef lately buying Creative is using Amazon! It was smoother and cheaper buying direct via [...]!? Oh well, things do change I guess...
I also seldom give 100% or 5 stars yadda yadda, but the Zen really shines!
Now when the batteries do croak, I'll buy a kit and replace it myself, isn't that hard to do, minor fiddling with wires and a touch of Solder ..etc..etc..

If your willing to learn the Keystrokes, menus and so on, it's a gem of a buy!
Hope this helps someone with deciding to purchase or not!? Thanks for reading and Thanks to Creative for the great products!
I Honestly enjoy these Zen Media Players 100%! *My honest opinion* ~Dave in CA~

Archos 604 30 GB Portable Media Player - Refurbished (Silver) Customer Review

I bought this because I was on a bit of a financial shoestring. Though I must admit I was a bit afraid of buying a refurbished product. Amazon has always done right by me so that helped eased my tension. When my creative zen vision 30 froze and I could not get it fixed Amazon refunded my money with no problem or hesitation. Well I just got the Archos today the main reason why I bought it was because of the price and the fact that it was not a creative zen, a microsoft zune or an apple ipod. I would love to buy another creative product put they seem stuck on the 32 gb situation and if I buy something new I want it to have a bigger space to allow my music/videos to sprawl. Now I know I bought the 30 gb Archos so I actually lost 2 gb of space. However this is a test prodcut for me to see if I would want to buy a more expensive Archos later on down the road. At first I had some difficulty understanding it. This item came with no instructions or cd whatsoever. Not even the quick that gives basic diagrams for the technilogically challenged like me. So I just went ahead and plugged it in. My operation system automatically took care of it and the Archos booted up. However I had to put up the charging function, media function and harddrive function all seperately for some reason.
I kept trying to sync it using the media function and nothing would happen. So I switched it over to the harddrive and just right clicked on my mouse and sent it to the Archos. I really do miss creative vision compression technology. I have not had any difficulty so far but will keep an eye on the unit.
On the downside though it is huge I was hoping for something I can put in my pocket and carry along with me at times but will have to wait and see how portable this thing actually is.

Thanks Amazon you guys rock.
Paul

Archos 705 Wi-Fi Portable Media Player (80 GB) Customer Review

I like my Archos, but I don't like the terribad battery life. I love the storage capacity of this beast - I don't like the mediocre volume it puts out. The touchscreen IS easy enough to use with your fingers (despite what a few others have said in reviews) if you use the tip of your finger or the back of your nail. I don't keep up with a stylus well, so i just use the back of my index nail and it works just fine.

The picture isn't bad at all; if the battery life wasn't a joke it would make a great travel companion (which is why I bought it) to take instead of a laptop. As it stands now I have to find a power outlet after almost every 2 hours to give it some juice (when watching movies). I get about 8 hours of music out of it, which isn't terrible, until you look at the amount of time it should last.

The worst part about it is that the WiFi feature (using an Opera browser) is so slow you'd almost do better on an actual computer with dialup. I don't even use this feature even though I paid the extra for the capability.

The best part? This baby plays almost any file type you put on it.
I gave it a 4 star because there isn't a 3.5 star rating.

Archos 705 Wi-Fi Portable Media Player (160 GB) Customer Review

Archos 605 Wi-Fi Portable Media Player (30 GB) Review

Products by : Archos

Model : 500948

Rating Reviews : 3.5

I've owned my archos for about 5 months now and ithas lived up to what it was made for. Wifi works great, I enjoy having both the touch screen and the side buttons, video quality is outstanding. The main reason I bought the 605 was to listen to music, but getting the web browser/internet radio and tv plug-ins really improved the device. The sound quality is above par but not outstanding. It's much better with the proper equalizer settings (very nice touch) and good quality headphones. The versatility is great, you can have it be an MTP device when connecting to your computer, or just be read as an external hard drive. I like that it is linux-based but it isn't truly open source. I like that it plays flash games (somewhat slowly I might add) and that the Opera browser has nice widgets that work pretty well, but if it was open source then it would truly be a huge step up from the itouch. The stylus that comes with it is overall a good stylus but there's nowhere to put it. It is useful when surfing the web but I don't want to have to take it with me in the hopes that I'll get into a wifi hot spot. Since the device does have a touch screen, I was hoping that the interface would be a little more touchscreen friendly. It works well, but it could be a lot better by making the folders bigger and therefor easier to access via touchscreen. I haven't been able to experiment a lot with the browser (I just set up wifi in my home yesterday) but I can tell that my overall experience with the 605 will be enhanced. One of my favorite things at the moment about this device is the internet radio. It is well supported and has superb stations. I would recommend this product to anyone as an alternative to the itouch...but not for 0. I got mine at a really great price (around 0 I think) and it is well worth it but Amazon seems to have bumped up the price to 0, which isn't worth it (I don't think any mp3 player is worth 0 honestly). Overall, great product and highly recommended.
